For this project, we partnered with Save the Bay to help advance their mission to protect and improve Narragansett Bay by increasing effectiveness of communication about the issue of microplastics. In support of this effort, we delivered a communications campaign focused on microplastics and their environmental and legislative impact. We sought to make the issue of microplastics more relevant to citizens of Rhode Island and surrounding communities by focusing campaign on local impact on waterways of Rhode Island and Narragansett Bay. The core elements of the campaign that we created include the following communications assets:
- Community Partner Presentation outlining our Goals and Objectives, Approach, Research findings for Legislative Environment, Media Landscape, Opportunities and Recommendations
- Microplastics Blog content for Save the Bay Tides Blog at http://www.savebay.org/blogs
- a 15-minute podcast that leveraged a radio-show style format and included an expert interview component that could serve as a model for how Save the Bay might leverage podcasts and social media in the future
- Social media post content for a sustainable campaign on Facebook and Twitter
- A recommended approach to social media calendar for sustained microplastics campaign for Facebook and Twitter
